While he may have lost the baseball battle, he’s trying to win the football war. After the New York Knicks‘ dominant win over the Milwaukee Bucks, forward Josh Hart proudly featured his love for one of his favorite sports teams.
Hart, 29, showed just how big his head actually is while in Madison Square Garden’s home team locker room Monday night, and he did so while boasting his Washington Commanders fandom.
“It just opens things up,” Hart said in response to Jalen Brunson‘s monster first quarter against the Bucks. “He’s a great player, (and) he demands attention.”
Admittedly, the reporters may have had a tougher time taking in Hart’s words due to the size of that big dome of his. Obviously, I’m not referring to a bolstered ego (as the video above shows).
Hart, who was born in Silver Spring, MD, and grew up in Washington D.C., is a huge fan of the Washington Commanders. That very night, his Commanders were down south to take on the No. 3-seeded Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC wild card round of the NFL playoffs.
Despite finishing with the superior recordโ12-5 compared to the Bucs’ 10-7 markโWashington was forced to play on the road because it had not won the division. Interestingly, the team that won the division, the Dallas Cowboys, ties into this story in a strange way.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard and New York native Donovan Mitchell is a Cowboys fan, but, more importantly, he’s a monster New York Mets fan. Hart is more than aware of Mitchell’s fandom since the two NBA ballers went back and forth on X (formerly Twitter) when Juan Soto had yet to decide on his next team.
Mitchell clearly won the baseball battle, as Hart’s Yankees lost Soto, much to his own personal chagrin.
On this day, however, Hart got his revenge, with Jayden Daniels leading his Commanders to an impressive and exciting 23-20 victory to advance to the division aroundโwhere they’ll take on the No. 1-seeded Detroit Lions.
Josh Hart is currently averaging 14.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in 37.5 minutes per game for the New York Knicks this season.
