Well, there’s nothing left but the laughing and crying. Unfortunately for New York Knicks forward Josh Hart, he’s firmly stuck in the latter emotional column.
Despite proudly displaying his previous confidence, Hart, who’s a diehard New York Yankees fan, had to contend with the record-breaking Juan Soto-New York Mets signing.
After simply posting “damn” on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Hart ensured his followers know where his loyalty lies.
Hart, 29, arguably remains the heart and the glue of the Knicks. Through 24 games, he’s currently averaging 13.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Hart landed with the Knicks in the 2022-23 season, coming from the Portland Trail Blazers. For the Silver Spring, MD native, Hart’s Yankees fandom has always been fierce, but it probably spiked to a new level during his collegiate days with the Villanova Wildcatsโconsidering the closer geographical location.
Either way, there’s no question that the Nova product is loving his current location in the heart of the Big Apple. In fact, it was near impossible to interview Hart while he had both eyes firmly on Game 1 of the World Series this past October.
Soto’s 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets might have been a blow for the Knicks swingman, but there’s no chance he’s hopping off the Pinstripe train anytime soon.
There’s also little chance he’ll pipe down about his Yankee feelings on social media, as evidenced by his reply to Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchellโwho’s famously a Mets fanโwhen he was digging in on the Soto-to-the-Mets rumor mill.
On the hardwood, Josh Hart’s New York Knicks take aim at advancing in the NBA in-season tournament on Wednesday night when they take on the Atlanta Hawks in the quarterfinals.
