The New York Knicks are bidding adieu to Guerschon Yabusele.

Per Shams Charania of ESPN, the Knicks have made their first major move of trade deadline season, trading Yabusele to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for guard Dalen Terry.

Coming to New York is reserve Dalen Terry, the 18th overall pick in the 2022 draft out of Arizona. Well-regarded for his defense with a 6’7 frame, Terry averaged 3.5 points and 1.9 rebounds in 34 showings this season. Shooting a career-best 41.3 percent from three-point range this season, Terry could find an instant opportunity in the New York rotation, as the Knicks have gone without the similarly skilled Miles McBride during their active eight-game winning streak.

Thus ends Yabusele’s metropolitan endeavors after just over half a season. The French forward came to New York after a breakout season with division rival Philadelphia, averaging 11 points and 5.6 rebounds after a five-year sabbatical overseas.

Signer of a two-year, $11.2 million contract with the Knicks, Yabusele was expected to be one of the Knicks’ forces off a revamped bench along with fellow addition Jordan Clarkson. But Yabusele never found a groove in New York’s second unit, averaging only 2.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 37 showings. He has been in and out of the primary rotation and is currently situated at less than 10 minutes a game.

Yabusele originally entered the Association as a first-round pick of Boston’s in 2017. He also served as the captain of France’s national team at the last EuroBasket competition, as well as Les Bleus’ last two silver medal runs at the Olympic Games.
