Per Shams Charania of ESPN, New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet has endured a right shoulder sprain, which will keep him out for at least four more weeks.

The second-year Knick will be re-evaluated at that point before another decision is made.

Shamet was injured during the early portion of Saturday’s game against the Orlando Magic, making contact with Wendell Carter Jr. when the latter was setting a pick on a Knicks defensive possession. It was the same shoulder that Shamet injured during the 2024 preseason in an encounter with Charlotte’s Moussa Diabate, one that pushed his Knicks debut back by over a month.

The Knicks (10-6) will thus continue to be missing one of their top reserves, who has risen to the occasion in the early going. Shamet was one of the final players signed out of training camp, but posted some impressive performances in the debut slate.

Shamet had a 36-point showing in a win over Miami that improved the Knicks’ standing in the chase for the NBA Cup on November 14. Less than a week later, Shamet hit a couple of clutch triples and drew a crucial offensive foul to close out the Knicks’ first road win of the season, a 113-111 win in Dallas. Shamet had also been moonlighting in the Knicks’ starting five while OG Anunoby worked off a hamstring strain.

With this new timeline, the earliest Shamet could return is Christmas Day, when the Knicks host the Cleveland Cavaliers in their annual holiday haunt.
