The New York Knicks are apparently ditching toward bidding Pacome Dadiet au revoir.

Per Shams Charania of ESPN, the Knicks are planning to decline the $5.37 million option on Dadiet, who just tipped off his third season with the team. Dadiet is the most recent first-round rookie to suit up for the Knicks, arriving as the 25th overall selection out of France in the 2024 draft.

Charania notes that “both sides could still discuss a reunion” when Dadiet becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but there’s little evidence that the Knicks would be interested in such a prospect.

The 6-9, 210-lb. guard has made little headway in the name of securing a more regular rotational spot, averaging just over five minutes a game in 48 career appearances. Dadiet has averaged 1.6 points on 33% shooting in that span and has taken the floor in just one of the Knicks’ first five games this year, grabbing a late rebound in Tuesday’s one-sided win over Detroit.

Dadiet averaged over 15 points in a quartet with the Knicks’ 2026 Summer League club but remains weighted down on the backcourt depth chart behind veterans like Jose Alvarado, Jordan Clarkson, Tyler Kolek, Miles McBride, and Landry Shamet. Kolek, Dadiet’s 2024 draft classmate, has recently earned major minutes in the wake of an Alvarado ankle injury that has kept him out of each of the last three games.

During the preseason, Knicks head coach Mike Brown wanted to see Dadiet “let it fly” from three-point range, but the shooter got up an average of 3.4 this time around, his lowest in three exhibitions tours. Dadiet is 13-of-51 in his relatively brief Knick career with an extra point on the line, a success rate of just over 25%.

โ€œHeโ€™s one of the best cutters we have on the team, and so heโ€™s got to, at his size, heโ€™s got to cut to score. That gravity with his ability to shoot is going to get others open,โ€ Brown said of Dadiet during preseason play, per Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News. โ€œThen the last thing I would say is heโ€™s a pretty good offensive rebounder. Heโ€™s not a great athlete, but heโ€™s a good athlete and heโ€™s got pretty good feet. I expect him to be versatile and not get beat off the dribble.โ€

If and when the Dadiet decline comes to pass, he’ll be one of several New York depth stars hitting the unrestricted free agent market next to Clarkson, McBride, and Andre Drummond.
