First comes denial. Then comes concern. Once those two emotions subside just a tad, anger and frustration enter the conversation.

For many New York Knicks fans, all that’s left is delirium and a diabolical order to things that abides by the familiar “laugh instead of cry” mantra.

The Knicks, fresh off a 114-97 loss to the near-G League Dallas Mavericks, are searching for answers after losing nine of their last 11 games. Knicks fans, meanwhile, are dealing with the heartbreak as best they can: with laughter, so that tears don’t continuously run down cheeks.

One X user โ€” who we could only assume is a Knicks fan โ€” posted a video GIF akin to a serenade for those New York booted out of the Big Apple (Tom Thibodeau, Julius Randle, and Donte DiVincenzo):

Meanwhile, one of the rare examples of a social media hoops fan who actually knows what he’s watching on the NBA hardwood, Rob Perez, chimed in with some Thibs hilarity. Though short in length, the tone could be everlasting for many who couldn’t grasp just how much the man lifted these Knicks’ overrated rosters:

When speaking to the faithful, Perez continues to do his damndest in the “be responsible in my thoughts” department. So, kudos to the longtime Knickerbockers fan on that front, but given his age and how long he’s been with this squad (near-identical to my own timeline), he feels exactly what’s happening.

One of WFAN’s finest (and most controversial) all-time callers, Incarcerated Bob, could very well be stuck in the denial phase of emotions with this George Steinbrenner-Billy Martin all-timer:

Knicks Beast enjoyed visions of a grand Thibodeau return to the big stage (genuine joke or not):

X user jfromflorida pointed out the difference in Karl-Anthony Towns’s overall vibe was under the man the kids call Thibs:

The 25-18 Knicks will rest on Tuesday before getting back at it Wednesday night against the little brother Brooklyn Nets. And no, despite evidence to the contrary, Tom Thibodeau will not be coaching the team.

It’s still Mike Brown.
