Through five games in the young season, the Knicks’ new head coach is feeling the heatโ€”no matter how early it may be. After winning its first two gamesโ€”both of which occurred at homeโ€”Mike Brown’s squad lost three on the road.

It began a week ago, when the Knicks dropped a 115-107 tilt to the Heat in Miami. Two days later, they fell to the Milwaukee Bucks in a contest that was there for the taking.

The trifecta was completed when the still undefeated Bulls staved off the Knickerbockers’ second-half comeback this past Friday night. Despite clawing their way back from a 72-53 halftime deficit, New York’s defense could never quite get the stop it needed in crunchtime.

Bulls’ impressive youngster Josh Giddey led the way for Chicago, pouring in a career high of 32 points on an efficient 12 of 21 from the floor (and 4-8 from three-point land). His 10 rebounds and nine assists placed him just one dime shy of a triple-double.

For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson finished with a team-high 29 points, but it was the team defense that really stood out on the wrong side of fine. Chicago shot an absurd 53.6 percent (45-84) from the floor and 45.9 percent (17-37) from downtown.

Fortunately for New York, Sunday night’s game marks the first of a rare seven-game homestand. Despite the early grumbles from fans, the opportunity to quickly right the ship is right there in front of them.

On the injury front, only Mitchell Robinson was listed as questionable (ankle) heading into Sunday. However, he has since been upgraded to available and will suit up.

The Knicks are currently a 7.5-point home favorite, per FanDuel Sportsbook. The over-under total is set at 235.5 points (Over -114/Under -108).

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET with the friendly and familiar voices of MSG Networks set to call the game.
