The New York Knicks recalled rookie forward/guard Pacome Dadiet from the G League on Tuesday.
The news comes a day after the Knicks assigned rookie guard Tyler Kolek and forward Matt Ryan to the G League’s Westchester Knicks. Considering the Knicks are amid a four-game layoff—as the NBA Cup does its relatively meaningless thing in Las Vegas—the moves are assumed to be experienced and habit-based.
Kolek hasn’t played much this season, especially lately, so getting him looks in Westchester seems like the right move. However, the demotions did not last long, as both Kolek and Ryan were recalled with Dadiet on Tuesday.
Dadiet’s status with the big squad is up for debate. Conventional wisdom would have us believe that he’s soon to rejoin his G League teammates, as New York is currently one too many over the roster limit.
Dadiet, 19, has played in 11 games this season, averaging just 7.0 minutes per contest. The 25th overall pick from the 2024 NBA draft is averaging 1.7 points on .333 shooting while contributing 1.2 rebounds and 0.5 steals per game.
Kolek, on the other hand, has appeared in 16 games (6.9 minutes per). The sharpshooting Marquette graduate is averaging 2.9 points on .432 from the floor. His .455 mark from the 3-point line has the organization feeling good about the lefty’s future prospects.
At 16-10, the New York Knicks are coming off an impressive 100-91 road win over the Orlando Magic this past Sunday. They’ll next hit the hardwood in Minnesota this coming Thursday at 9:30 p.m. ET, where Karl-Anthony Towns is set to make his anticipated return to his former squad.
