Ahead of training camp, the New York Knicks have made another addition to their roster.
Per Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, the Knicks have signed forward Matt Ryan to an Exhibit 10 contract, allowing him to compete for a roster spot. He will join the team at training camp, which is scheduled to begin on Oct. 1.
Ryan, 28, spent last season with the Knicks organization, appearing in 19 NBA games, while spending the majority of the year with the Westchester Knicks.
Throughout his 19 games in New York last season, Ryan averaged 1.5 points per game on 32.3% shooting from inside the field while shooting 31.6% from beyond the arc, over 3.6 minutes.
The 28-year-old broke into the NBA in 2021 and has since made stops with Boston, Los Angeles, Minnesota, New Orleans, and New York. His most productive stretch came during the 2023-24 campaign with the Pelicans, where he shot 45.1% from beyond the arc and chipped in 5.4 points per game across 28 games.
Ryan went No. 1 overall to Westchester in the 2024 G-League draft. He eventually landed a two-way contract with the Knicks that December, but New York released him in March 2025.
Ryan, alongside Landry Shamet, Malcom Brogdon, and Garrison Matthews, is expected to compete for roster spots throughout training camp and the preseason.
Ryan now faces an uphill climb to stick in New York on the 15-man roster, but his sharp perimeter shooting gives him an opportunity. With Shamet, Brogdon, and Matthews in the mix, the Knicks’ camp battles should be highly competitive.
