Leon Rose and the New York Knicks have made their first move in free agency, which has nothing to do with hiring a head coach.

NBA Insider Chris Haynes was first to report that Jordan Clarkson “intends to sign” with the Knicks once he clears waivers.

The former Sixth Man of the Year winner reached a buyout agreement with the Utah Jazz on the first day of free agency, after five and a half seasons with the team.

Clarkson played just 37 games last season, averaging 16.2 points for a Jazz team that seemed uninterested in winning games.

Utah finished with a 17-65 record, earning the third overall pick in this year’s draft.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Post reports that Clarkson’s deal is expected to be for the veteran’s minimum.

That’s a bargain deal for a guy who can get buckets in all forms and fashions.

Better yet, the Knicks aren’t done. New York still has multiple avenues available en route to improving the roster.

Buckle up, Orange and Blue faithful. The NBA offseason is in full swing.
