Ahead of training camp, the New York Knicks have added four more free agents to their roster.
Here is a look at the four latest additions to Mike Brown’s squad …
Malcolm Brogdon, G
Signed to a one-year contract worth more than $3 million, veteran Malcolm Brogdon joins the New York Knicks after spending last season with the Washington Wizards.
Brogdon, entering his 10th NBA season, was limited to 24 games in 2023-24. He averaged 12.7 points in 23.5 minutes per game while shooting 43.3% from the field and just 28.6% from three-point range. His year ended prematurely after he tore a ligament in his right thumb that required surgery.
Despite the down year, Brogdon has long been regarded as a reliable perimeter threat. The former Boston Celtic holds a career 38.8% mark from beyond the arc.
Landry Shamet, G
Earlier in the offseason, I identified Landry Shamet as a free agent the Knicks should prioritize keeping, and the team followed through by re-signing him to a one-year deal.
Shamet averaged 5.7 points in 15.2 minutes per game during the regular season, shooting 46.1% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range. His role expanded in the Eastern Conference Finals, where his defensive energy and sharp shooting, including seven made threes across four games, drew praise from the fan base and cemented his spot in the rotation.
For New York, Shamet supplies exactly what the bench needs: dependable perimeter shooting and scrappy defense.
Garrison Matthews, G
The Knicks signed Matthews, 28, to a training camp deal.
Matthews, set to turn 29 in October, enters his seventh NBA season after stints with Washington, Houston, and Atlanta.
Over the past two years with the Hawks, he contributed six points per game in limited minutes, connecting on 42.4% of his shots overall and an impressive 41.4% from beyond the arc.
New York already leans on multiple high-volume corner threats in its starting group and has Deuce McBride as a steady option off the bench, but Matthews adds another dimension. No one in the league was better from the corner last season; he led the NBA at 58.0% on 69 attempts.
Expect Matthews, Shamet, and Brogdon to all compete for roster spots throughout training camp and the preseason.
Tosan Evbuomwan, G/F
After a stint with the Brooklyn Nets last season, Evbuomwan is set to cross borough lines and suit up for the Knicks as training camp approaches. The 24-year-old forward logged 28 appearances last season, averaging 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists across 23.8 minutes per game.
Evbuomwan has officially earned one of the Knicks’ three two-way contracts.
